A Planning Application has been submitted on behalf of Danelise Homes for the redevelopment of 79-85 Stafford Road, Caterham. The project will provide four 3-bedroom houses and 42 flats with a mix of 1, 2, and 3 bedrooms.
The site comprises four adjacent residential plots on the west side of Caterham Valley, with an easterly outlook. It is a steeply sloping, heavily wooded site with several plateaus running across its length, from north to south. The site backs onto the Green Belt to the northwest, and part of the site is covered by the District Council’s Wooded Hillside policy. In addition to being supported by a Landscape Visual Impact Assessment, the site was extensively 3D modelled to accurately assess the scale of the proposed development in the broader context and limit the visual impact through the extensive retention of large mature trees.
